Annie Ramirez captures first word title in jiu-jitsu worlds

Filipino jiu-jitsu star Annie Ramirez captured her first world championship in the Jiu-Jitsu International Federation World Championships in Thailand on Sunday, Nov. 2.

Ramirez, who is also an Asian Games gold medalist, captured the gold medals in the women’s 57kg Gi and No-Gi divisions, concluding her journey that began in 2021.

The 34-year-old took to Instagram to express her gratitude and reflected on her accomplishments so far this year, specifically her gold-medal finish in the JJIF World Championships earlier this month.

Filipino jiu-jitsu star Annie Ramirez clinched her first world title at the JJIF World Championships in Thailand, winning double gold in the Gi and No-Gi 57kg divisions and adding to her illustrious career ahead of the 2025 SEA Games.

“Four days ago, I won my first-ever JJIF World Championship gold in Gi, and today, He blessed me again — another gold in the 57kg No-Gi division!” Ramirez wrote.

“This double gold at the World Championships is one of the first for Team Philippines — and also the first in my career. I can’t express how happy and grateful I am to finally achieve this milestone,” she added.

The gold medal marks Ramirez’s latest in her stacked resume that includes championships in the Asian Indoor and Martial Arts Games, Asian Championships, and the Asian Beach Games.

Ramirez is also seeking her fourth gold medal in the upcoming Southeast Asian (SEA) Games this December.
