Creamline, Akari eye key wins as PVL Reinforced Conference Round 2 begins

The second round of the 2025 Premier Volleyball League (PVL) Reinforced Conference opens on Thursday, November 6, at the FilOil EcoOil Centre in San Juan, featuring a pair of crucial Pool C matchups as the playoff race intensifies.

In the 4:00 p.m. opener, the Creamline Cool Smashers look to extend their momentum and solidify their spot among the leaders as they go up against the winless Nxled Chameleons.

Creamline, led by veterans Alyssa Valdez, Bea De Leon, and import Coco Schwan , enters Round 2 with confidence after closing the first phase strong, and currently carrying a 3-2 record. The Cool Smashers’ chemistry and depth continue to be their biggest assets as they aim to polish their consistency heading into the semifinals.

Nxled, still hunting for its first win, will rely on foreign reinforcement Paola Martinez and Chiara Permentilla to anchor both offense and floor coverage. The Chameleons hope to shake off early struggles and catch Creamline off guard with their youthful energy and improved coordination.

The Cool Smashers’ experience and firepower should be too much for the rebuilding Chameleons. Expect Creamline to dominate from the service line and control the tempo early, though Nxled could make the second set interesting before Creamline pulls away.

In the 6:30 p.m. main game, the Akari Chargers (3–2) and Cignal HD Spikers (3–3) collide in what could be a turning point for both teams’ semifinal hopes.

Akari will once again count on Annie Mitchem’s scoring prowess and the steady play of Grethcel Soltones and Eli Soyud to regain their rhythm after a five-set collapse to ZUS Coffee. 

Head coach Tina Salak is expected to emphasize better floor defense and closing efficiency against a gritty Cignal side.

Cignal, meanwhile, remains a dangerous team capable of beating anyone on its day. Gel Cayuna, PVL On Tour MVP Erika Santos who won Player of the Week for October 21-25 , and import Evangelia Chantava lead the charge for the HD Spikers, who are eager to bounce back and stabilize their campaign after inconsistent results in the first round.

Game Prediction: Akari 3–2 Cignal

This matchup could go the distance, with both teams evenly matched in attack and defense. However, Akari’s cohesion and Mitchem’s edge at the net might tilt the balance in the Chargers’ favor late in the fifth set.
