NBA Injury Report: Pelican’s Zion Williamson ruled out for at least a week due to a hamstring issue

The New Orleans Pelicans have been dealt another setback in the 2025–26 NBA season after star forward Zion Williamson sustained a Grade 1 left hamstring strain, adding to a growing list of injuries that have plagued his career.

The team confirmed the news early Tuesday, November 4 (Philippine time), announcing that Williamson will be sidelined for at least seven to ten days. The 25-year-old is expected to be re-evaluated after 10 days by team medical staff.

Williamson’s absence is a major blow for the Pelicans, who are still searching for their first win of the season after dropping six straight games. Despite the team’s struggles, the two-time All-Star has been a bright spot, leading New Orleans in scoring (22.8 points), rebounds (6.8), and assists (4.6) per game.

Injuries have been a recurring theme in Williamson’s career since he was drafted first overall in 2019. Over six seasons, he has played 61 or more games only twice and appeared in just 30 contests last season before being shut down with a back bone bruise. In total, he has missed 268 games — more than the 214 he has played — since entering the league.

Ahead of this season, Williamson made headlines for his offseason transformation, reportedly shedding weight and arriving at training camp in top condition. However, the recent setback has once again raised concerns about his long-term durability.

With the Pelicans languishing at the bottom of the Western Conference standings, frustration is mounting among fans and analysts. Some have even called on management to consider trading Williamson, arguing that the team can no longer rely on his availability despite his undeniable talent and potential.

Williamson, who has spent his entire professional career in New Orleans, remains a two-time NBA All-Star but continues to battle the inconsistency brought on by injuries that have defined much of his tenure with the franchise.
