Bella Belen proud of Capital1’s growing rhythm after PVL turnaround

The Capital1 Solar Spikers continued their resurgence in the 2025 Premier Volleyball League (PVL) Reinforced Conference, sweeping the Cignal HD Spikers, 25-23, 25-23, 25-21, at the FilOil EcoOil Arena on Friday, October 31.

Rookie sensation Bella Belen, the top overall pick in the PVL Rookie Draft and a standout from the UAAP, delivered another stellar all-around performance with 11 points and 14 excellent digs, helping Capital1 climb to third in the Pool A standings with a 2-2 record.

Belen expressed her delight after the victory, highlighting the team’s growing chemistry and improved execution.

“For me, this is a good sign that the team and our system are finally starting to gel,” said Belen. “We can really feel that we’re getting more comfortable playing together.”

Alongside Belen, imports Ekaterina Bytsenko, Pia Abbu, and veteran Rachel Austero were instrumental in Capital1’s comeback efforts, rallying from multiple deficits to complete the straight-sets win. The team’s poise in tight moments reflected the steady influence of head coach Roger Gorayeb.

“We practice these kinds of close-game situations,” Belen added. “Even when we were trailing, we reminded ourselves that as long as Cignal hasn’t reached 25 yet, we still have a chance. We just focused on doing our responsibilities as players, and thankfully, we pulled through.”

For the 23-year-old Belen, the victory wasn’t just about individual stats — it was about building momentum and trust as a team.

“There’s still a lot to improve, and I’m very excited to see how much more we can bring in our next game,” she said.

Capital1 will look to extend their winning run when they take on the Choco Mucho Flying Titans on Tuesday, November 4, at the Mall of Asia Arena.
