The ZUS Coffee Thunderbelles have emerged as one of the early favorites in the ongoing 2025 Premier Volleyball League (PVL) Reinforced Conference, sweeping all four of their matches to remain unbeaten.

At the heart of their dominant run is American import Anna DeBeer, whose combination of power, consistency, and leadership has elevated the Thunderbelles’ play on both ends of the court.

DeBeer once again showcased her brilliance in ZUS Coffee’s straight-sets victory over the Petro Gazz Angels, 25–22, 25–21, 25–20, last Tuesday, October 28, at the FilOil EcoOil Arena. The 24-year-old outside hitter delivered a game-high 23 points, earning her the PVL Press Corps Player of the Week honors for the period of October 28–31.

The former University of Louisville Cardinals standout edged out strong contenders such as Annie Mitchem (Akari Chargers), Courtney Schwan (Creamline Cool Smashers), Helene Rouss Seaux (Farm Fresh Foxies), Savannah Davison (PLDT High Speed Hitters), and Oleksandra Bytsenko (Capital1 Solar Spikers) for the weekly award chosen by PVL beat reporters.

While grateful for the recognition, DeBeer emphasized that her main focus remains on helping her team capture the Reinforced Conference crown.

“Obviously, as a team, we want to win this thing. We’re trying our best to get there,” DeBeer said. “It’s super exciting to be in an environment with such a great team and staff, surrounded by good people where it’s fun to work hard every day. I’m really just excited about getting better and seeing how far we can go.”

Known for her relentless work ethic and high volleyball IQ, DeBeer shared that her time in the U.S. NCAA Division I helped her develop a mindset where skill and effort can overcome physical disadvantages.

“In the U.S., we’ve kind of built the mentality that height doesn’t matter,” she said. “I didn’t even realize I was one of the shorter ones here. I just focus on working hard, studying the scout, and finding ways we can get better each game.”

DeBeer also noted the striking similarities between the competition level in the Philippines and in the U.S. collegiate scene.

“It’s really scrappy and competitive, just like back home,” she added. “Everyone’s making insane plays here, and that’s what makes it exciting. The energy from the fans every point—it’s awesome to be part of.”

ZUS Coffee management will hope that DeBeer maintains her stellar form as the Thunderbelles look to extend their unbeaten streak when they face the Akari Chargers next Tuesday, November 4, at the Mall of Asia Arena.
