The Games and Amusements Board (GAB) will be investigating Filipino boxer John Riel Casimero for match-fixing after his loss to Japanese boxer Kyonosuke Kameda on Saturday, Oct. 25.
GAB chairman Francisco Rivera was made aware of the alleged match-fixing after multiple fans sent emails complaining about Casimero’s coach and brother, Jayson’s, statements that they needed to lose to secure their plans after the fight.
“Ang sakit lang na kailangan namin magpatalo para sa mga plano,” Jayson said in a clip
“We received two emails requesting us to investigate if there was game fixing in the last Casimero fight,” Rivera said.

However, Rivera commented on the fight itself, noting that Casimero was still aggressive and looking for the win.
The chairman remarked that Kameda was “simply too good” for the former Bantamweight world champion.
“We will look into this regarding the allegations of game-fixing, but initially we looked at the video of the fight. Without pre-judging the case, my initial impression is that Casimero really fought hard he was always aggressive,” Rivera said.
“It just turned out that the opponent was simply good for him. And I also understand that he moved up in weight without the necessary preparations, so that could explain why he lost,” he added.
Casimero is no stranger to controversy. Before fighting Kameda, the Filipino was suspended by the Japanese Boxing Commission after multiple failed attempts to make weight in his fights.
If found guilty, Casimero’s boxing license would be revoked, among other penalties, marking the end of his tumultuous world championship career.
