The Galeries Tower Highrisers have endured a rocky start to the 2025 Premier Volleyball League (PVL) Reinforced Conference, and their latest outing against the Akari Chargers on Tuesday, October 28, at the FilOil EcoOil Arena only deepened their woes.

The Highrisers suffered a fifth consecutive defeat, falling 25-11, 25-23, 25-23, leaving them anchored at the bottom of Pool B. Despite the lopsided result, one silver lining emerged: the reunion of rookie Jean Asis with her former mentor Tina Salak, now an opponent with Akari.

While Asis could not guide her team to a victory, the match provided her with a platform to showcase her development since her college days at Far Eastern University.

The middle blocker impressed with nine points, including three kill blocks, demonstrating her growing presence on the court.

Despite the team’s ongoing losing streak, Asis enters the next phase of the conference with renewed optimism. She believes the Highrisers have the potential to turn their fortunes around.

The fixtures for the next phase of the Reinforced Conference have yet to be announced. For Asis and the Highrisers, the focus will be on building momentum and improving execution, as they aim to climb the standings and make the most of the opportunities ahead.
