San Antonio Spurs center Victor Wembanyama and Milwaukee Bucks forward Giannis Antetokounmpo have been named the National Basketball Association (NBA) Players of the Week for the Week 1 of the 2025-26 season.

Victor Wembanyama (Western Conference Player of Week)

Victor Wembanyama continues to prove why he’s considered the future of the NBA. The 21-year-old French phenom has lived up to the immense hype surrounding him, delivering a spectacular start to the 2025–26 season.

Through the first three games, Wembanyama has averaged an eye-popping 33.3 points, 13.3 rebounds, 6.0 blocks, 2.3 assists, and 1.67 steals in just 33.3 minutes per game, while shooting 56.9 percent from the field. His dominant play has propelled the San Antonio Spurs to a perfect 3-0 record — their best start since 2019.

In the process, Wembanyama also made NBA history, becoming the first player ever to record at least 100 points, 40 rebounds, and 15 blocks through his team’s first three games of a season.

The towering center’s incredible performance earned him the NBA’s Player of the Week honor — the second of his young career, following his first in December 2024.

At just 21, Wembanyama is already shaping up to be the standard-bearer for the league’s next generation of superstars.

Giannis Antetokounmpo (Eastern Conference Player of Week)

Giannis Antetokounmpo continues to prove why he remains one of the NBA’s most dominant forces, opening the new season in trademark fashion by leading from the front. The “Greek Freak” powered the Milwaukee Bucks to a 2-1 start, averaging 36.0 points (2nd in the NBA), 16.0 rebounds (1st), and 7.0 assists (14th) per game while shooting an impressive 68.3 percent from the field (11th).

Across his first three outings, Antetokounmpo totaled 108 points, 48 rebounds, and 21 assists — becoming the first player this season to record at least 100 points, 40 rebounds, and 15 assists through three games.

He also joined elite company by posting at least 30 points, 10 rebounds, and five assists in each of his first three contests. Only Luka Dončić, Russell Westbrook, and Oscar Robertson had previously achieved the feat — and Antetokounmpo stands alone among them as the only player to shoot over 60 percent from the field during such a stretch.

The performance earned Antetokounmpo his first Player of the Week award of the 2025–26 season and the 28th of his illustrious career, further cementing his place among the league’s all-time greats.
