Filipino boxer John Casimero failed to make an impact in his comeback fight from suspension after faltering against Japan’s Kyonosuke Kameda at Bishkek Arena on Saturday, Oct. 25.
Fresh off his one-year suspension by the Japan Boxing Commission after multiple failed attempts to make weight in his previous fight, Casimero absorbed his first defeat since 2017, after a unanimous decision loss.
Casimero was aggressive in the early rounds, but failed to deal any significant damage to the Japanese. In the middle rounds, Kameda took control of the momentum after taking advantage of a winded Casimero.

Kameda, who was on a two-fight skid before the fight, wanted to send a message and continued to deal damage to a now-bloodied Casimero, who couldn’t get anything going until the end of the fight.
The judges scored it 99-92, 98-92, and 97-93 for Kameda, putting to a halt Casimero’s 11-fight unbeaten streak.
Casimero dropped to a 34-5-1 win-loss-draw record, while Kameda got a much-needed win for his 16-5-2 resume.
The future remains uncertain for Casimero, who was eyeing a fight with Super Bantamweight World Champion Naoya Inoue prior to the loss.
