Alas Pilipinas is set to receive a significant boost in its preparations for upcoming international competitions, as Petro Gazz Angels superstar Brooke Van Sickle and National University Lady Bulldogs standout Alyssa Solomon are expected to join the team’s training camp following their respective breaks.

Head coach Jorge Souza de Brito confirmed to the media that both Van Sickle and Solomon will participate in the national squad’s training sessions as soon as they complete their recovery and rest periods.

“Yes, they are expected to join training. There are still a few players on their breaks after the University Athletic Association of the Philippines (UAAP) and the Asian Volleyball Confederation (AVC) Champions League. Both Van Sickle and Solomon are still on their breaks,” De Brito said, as quoted by Tiebreaker Times.

Van Sickle, the reigning Premier Volleyball League (PVL) All-Filipino Conference Most Valuable Player (MVP), is currently out of the country after helping Petro Gazz reach the quarterfinals of the AVC Champions League last month.

Meanwhile, Solomon is taking a well-deserved rest after leading the Lady Bulldogs to back-to-back UAAP women’s volleyball championships, sweeping La Salle in the Season 87 finals.

So far, several key players have already attended training sessions, including Jia De Guzman, Maddie Madayag, Jeanette Panaga, MJ Phillips, Dell Palomata, Jennifer Nierva, Justine Jazareno, Fifi Sharma, Tia Andaya, as well as UAAP standouts Shaina Natura, Clarisse Lorresco, Bella Belen, and Lams Lamina.

La Salle’s top stars—Angel Canino, Shevana Laput, Amie Provido, and Jolina Malaluan—are also currently on break following their silver-medal finish in the UAAP Season 87 women’s tournament.

Alas Pilipinas has a packed calendar ahead, beginning with the Asian Volleyball Confederation (AVC) Women’s Nations Cup, set to take place from June 7 to 14 in Hanoi, Vietnam. Following that, the women’s national volleyball team will compete in the Southeast Asian Volleyball League, scheduled from late July to early August.
