Michael Jordan set to join NBC for 2025-2026 NBA season coverage

NBA legend Michael Jordan is returning to the NBA, this time, as a special contributor to NBC’s coverage of the league’s 2025-2026 season.

Jordan’s appointment is a way for NBC to add excitement to their return as the league’s largest broadcast holder after agreeing with the league for an 11-year deal last July.

NBC, which regularly broadcasted NBA games from 1990 until 2002, announced that the former Chicago Bulls legend will appear on NBC during the halftime show of the Houston Rockets – Oklahoma City Thunder game on opening night on Tuesday.

The segment, called “MJ: Insights to Excellence,” will reportedly be aired throughout the regular season, and was teased with a video that showed Jordan being interviewed by announcer Mike Tirico.

Former NBA stars Carmelo Anthony, Vince Carter, and Tracy McGrady were also tapped to be a part of the pre-game show, hosted by Maria Taylor on opening night.

Indiana Pacers legend Reggie Miller, former Sixth Man of the Year Jamal Crawford, and former Detroit Pistons star Grant Hill will also provide commentary as a part of the broadcast crew.

The six-time NBA champion last appeared in the NBA as the Charlotte Hornets’ majority owner, but has largely been unseen in any basketball-related media following the sale of his majority stake in 2023.

Despite little knowledge on what Jordan’s segment will cover, the basketball world has rejoiced from the NBA legend finally returning in a major role to the league he once dominated.
