The Premier Volleyball League Reinforced Conference returns today, October 16, with three matches on deck, headlined by a high-stakes showdown between the streaking PLDT High Speed Hitters and the surging Choco Mucho Flying Titans at the Smart Araneta Coliseum.

PLDT enters the 6:30 p.m. curtain-closer brimming with confidence after a dominant straight-sets victory over Capital1, 25-22, 25-20, 25-23, in its opening assignment. The win marked the High Speed Hitters’ 14th consecutive triumph, a run that includes a 13-game sweep of both the PVL on Tour and the Invitational Conference—two titles that cemented the franchise’s rise to contender status.

Now, they aim for a 15th straight win as they continue their quest for their first full-season championship. This 14-game streak currently ranks as the third-longest in PVL history, trailing only Creamline’s twin 19-game unbeaten runs from 2023 to 2025.

PVL Invitational MVP Savi Davison once again led the charge with 22 points, including seven of PLDT’s 16 blocks, while the team’s collective defense and net presence proved too much for Capital1 to handle. Head coach Rald Ricafort emphasized that consistency remains the key as they face a battle-tested Choco Mucho squad.

On the other side, the Flying Titans enter the match buoyed by a gutsy five-set win over Cignal, 23-25, 25-19, 25-16, 27-25. Playing without an import, Choco Mucho leaned on its veterans to turn the tide, erasing a fourth-set deficit with clutch plays from Royse Tubino and Maddie Madayag.

The latter starred with 18 points, six blocks, and an ace, while Isa Molde and Des Cheng chipped in double-doubles to steady the offense.

Libero Thang Ponce was instrumental in defense, tallying 32 digs and 20 receptions to anchor the team’s floor coverage. Despite import issues, the Flying Titans have proven their resilience by securing back-to-back wins in import-laden play—a feat that underscores their depth and chemistry.

The evening’s action begins with Nxled and Capital1 both searching for their first win of the tournament. Nxled, coming off a loss to Farm Fresh, will once again turn to Spanish import Paola Martinez and captain Chiara Permentilla for leadership, while rookie standout Bella Belen hopes to bounce back after a quiet performance against PLDT.

The 21-year-old National University star still managed 13 points and nine digs in the losing effort and is eager to guide her team to its breakthrough win.

Capital1, meanwhile, faces uncertainty following an injury scare involving team captain Roma Doromal, who suffered stomach cramps after a hard dive in their previous match. Ukrainian import Oleksandra Bytsenko has been a bright spot, posting 20 points and 12 receptions in the loss, but the Solar Spikers will need more offensive support to keep pace.

In the day’s first match, Cignal looks to recover from a heartbreaking five-set defeat to Akari. The HD Spikers struggled with efficiency, committing 28 errors and converting only nine of 39 attack attempts by Greek import Eva Chantava, who was limited to 10 points.

Vanie Gandler led the team with 15 points and 12 digs, while May Luna and Jerrili Malabanan are expected to provide steadier offensive help.

Their opponents, the Farm Fresh Foxies, enter brimming with momentum following a 22-25, 25-23, 25-19, 25-21 victory over Nxled.

Belgian reinforcement Helene Rousseaux dazzled in her PVL debut, erupting for 38 points on 31 attacks, four aces, and three blocks, while adding 15 receptions and eight digs.

Trisha Tubu and Ces Molina contributed 10 and nine points, respectively, to round out the Foxies’ balanced attack.

With key players and imports finding their form, tonight’s tripleheader promises high-octane volleyball and early statement wins. For PLDT, it’s a chance to stretch a record-breaking streak; for Choco Mucho, a shot to prove grit beats the odds. And for the rest, it’s about fighting for footing in an already thrilling start to the 2025 PVL Reinforced Conference.
