In an all-Filipino affair, Chezka Centeno edged out Rubilen Amit, 4-1, 2-4, 4-2, 3-4, 4-2 to grab the WPA Women’s 10-ball World Championship on Sunday in Bali, Indonesia.
Centeno got off to a strong start after winning the opening set, but Amit quickly responded to tie things up.
The Filipinas fought through countless errors in the deciding set until a costly scratch from Amit gave Centeno a chance to secure the championship, 3-2.
The 26-year-old would eventually run out the final set to reclaim the world championship she won in 2023.

On social media, Centeno reflected on her journey to the tournament and admitted that she had started to doubt herself after falling short in the finals of the 8-ball World Championship and World Games 10-ball tournament in recent months.
For the past four months, I’ve been competing non-stop, reaching three finals and falling short in two. I kept telling myself it was okay, that life goes on, but deep inside, the fire started to fade,” Centeno wrote on Facebook.
“I began doubting myself and feeling anxious. I was in a dark place mentally and emotionally, and it showed in my games. I lost confidence, my mind would go blank during matches, and I would lose early. It was one of the toughest stretches of my career, a quiet battle within myself,” she continued.
Centeno dropped the opening game of the tournament before going through the loser’s bracket undefeated en route to the all-Filipino final.
“It is a great honor to bring another title back home to the Philippines. I wish for the women’s pool to grow bigger and for women athletes to be more recognized,” said Centeno.
Centeno notched $50,000 for the victory, while Amit, who was undefeated before falling in the final match, earned $25,000.
