Filipino weightlifter Albert Delos Santos set a new junior world record in the clean and jerk at the International Weightlifting Federation (IWF) World Championships in Norway.

The 18-year-old made history after lifting 185 kilograms in the clean and jerk to reset the world record in Group B of the men’s 71 kg division. The record also marks the first time a Filipino held a world record in the junior category.

Delos Santos lifted a total of 322 kgs to finish eighth in his weight class after his best snatch of 132 kgs and the record-breaking attempt of 185 kgs.
