Filipino boxer Jino Rodrigo is in critical condition after a brutal knockout loss against Mexican Cain Sandoval at the Chumash Casino in California on Saturday, Oct. 4.
A blood clot was found in Rodrigo’s brain after the fighter was rushed to the hospital following the loss.
Reports said that the Rizal native, whose career is in doubt, is under close medical supervision.
Rodrigo, who is 28 years old, suffered through ten rounds of battering from Sandoval before the brutal knockout.

The fight comes after two Japanese boxers, Shigetoshi Kotari and Hiromasa Urakawa, died from brain injuries sustained during different fights on the same card last August.
A similar incident occured in August when an unnamed Japanese fighter underwent brain surgery after sparring.
The Filipino boasts a win-loss-draw slate of 13-6-2, including 11 stoppages. It was the first time Rodrigo was stopped in a fight.
