Filipino boxer Eumir Marcial is six fights into his professional career, but is already gunning for the top of the pound-for-pound rankings.
The Olympic bronze-medalist revealed in an interview with Fastbreak that he has his sights set on Undisputed Middleweight champion Terrence Crawford and former pound-for-pound No. 1 Canelo Alvarez.
“Sa ngayon, siyempre pangarap ng mga boksingero makalaban sila Canelo. Lalo sa weight class ko po, Terrence Crawford, yung champion sa 160,” he said.
Marcial started fighting professionally in 2020, when he won a unanimous decision victory against Andrew Whitefield in the United States.
Since then, the 28-year-old has ignited a five-fight winning streak with three stoppages, including a bronze-medal-winning run in the 2020 Olympics.
The Zamboanga City native had one fight in 2024 due to his participation in the 2024 Olympics, when he failed to repeat with a medal.

His promoter, Sean Gibbons of MP promotions, previously said he aims to fast-track Marcial in the middleweight world rankings.
With Crawford and Alvarez already at the twilight of their careers, Marcial stressed that it would be a long and arduous path before he could challenge the top two fighters at 160.
“Hopefully maabutan ko pa sila na lumalaban at balang araw challenge ko po sila,” said Marcial.
Marcial is set to fight Eddy Colmenares for the World Boxing Council (WBC) International Middleweight crown in the Thrilla in Manila 2 card on Oct. 29 at the iconic Smart Araneta Coliseum.
